In February, after a 2 week delay (due to inclement weather), we got to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a special way with the kids. I took the boys to a Mother/Son Dance. Then that afternoon, Dave took the girls to
a Daddy Daughter Dance (some of you may remember they went last year, too).
The format was very similar to last year. We got dressed up. (I love any occasion where the boys wear their ties!) We had our picture taken. We made picture frames to put the picture in. Then we had ice cream sundaes, games and dancing. The ice cream sundaes were
especially fun for Jack, as he has never had one before (due to his milk allergies). I also met a mom who had a daughter in kindergarten and twins born a few days before our triplets. What are the chances? (She and her son are behind Jack in this picture.)
When the boys and I made it to the dance floor, I tried to dance with one on my back and pick the other up, but one fell off (oops). Other than that, there were no real injuries. The kids were a little self conscious, actually, and told us the didn’t know how to dance or didn’t want to dance in front of other people. But they had fun playing games, like musical chairs.
But, as you can see from this video, though, they eventually got over their stage fright. The girls know this dance floor well, as it’s where they learned ballet.
(Click here if you can’t see the video.)
The kids all gave it a thumbs up and said they wanted to go again next year. We all had a good time, and we love setting aside time like that to make special memories with our kids.
Hope you got to spend some special time with those you love, too.
God bless,
Amanda
